Assessments & reports FAQ

What types of psychiatric assessments do you offer?

Halcyon Health provides diagnostic assessments for ADHD, ASD (autism spectrum disorder in adults), cognitive screening, and fitness to drive evaluations. We also prepare funded reports for NDIS (psychosocial functional assessments), WorkCover and CTP (injury-related psychiatric reports), and medico-legal reports for legal proceedings. Most assessments can be conducted via telehealth, with specific components arranged in-person where clinically required.

How long does an ADHD assessment take?

A comprehensive adult ADHD assessment at Halcyon Health is conducted collaboratively by the psychiatrist and psychologist. It includes a detailed clinical interview, review of developmental and educational history, validated ADHD rating scales and structured diagnostic interviews, and differential diagnosis to rule out conditions that can overlap with ADHD. The assessment is typically spread across more than one appointment. Contact us for current availability and process details.

What is an NDIS psychosocial assessment?

An NDIS psychosocial functional assessment evaluates how a mental health condition (such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe depression, or PTSD) affects your ability to function in daily life, work, and social participation. The report documents your functional capacity, support needs, and recommendations for NDIS-funded supports. At Halcyon Health, these assessments are conducted by our psychiatrist and are designed to meet NDIA evidence requirements for access requests and plan reviews.

Can medico-legal reports be done via telehealth?

Yes, medico-legal psychiatric assessments can be conducted via telehealth where appropriate. The assessment includes a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, review of all relevant documentation, and a detailed written report addressing the specific legal questions posed by the instructing party. Medico-legal reports are billed directly to the instructing solicitor or insurer. Turnaround time and fees are discussed at the time of instruction. Dr Perera has experience in personal injury, criminal, and family law matters.
